תורה לשבת
Torah for Shabbat
This week's Torah portion includes the
first documented case of an employer-employee
relationship. At every turn, Laban breaks his contract
with Jacob, always citing one excuse or another.
How did their relationship become so exploitative,
and what lessons does it hold for us today? MORE>
Jacob flees to his uncle Laban's household
and lives there for several years, marrying
Laban's daughters, Leah and Rachel, and
buildinga large family.
On his way to his uncle Laban's, Jacob dreams
of a ladder that stretches up from earth to heaven.
There are angels of God ascending
and descending the ladder.
